Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

Does anyone know how much the severance package will be and how long it will take to get it?

I was only hired as a field IT tech in September of last year so I've only been there a few months. They treated me with respect and allowed me to go back to my office on my own to gather my things without having someone standing over me. If I wanted I could have kept my company phone for an additional 30 days and allowed access to my computer to get any non company related info off if needed. I was also allowed free access to be able to say goodbye to anyone I may have wanted to.

Layoffs suck all the way around. I know the managers don't want to be doing it just like "we" don't like being let go. Shit happens but I think they handled it pretty well. The only thing I wish they would have given would be if they paid out the full year of vacation time instead of only paying what we have earned after 3 months.

For clarification, in the state of Texas they have to give you 60 Day notice. This was our 60 day notice. We will be paid through the end of March. Our termination date is March 22. If you get a severance package it will be based on your years of service and it will begin in April. I was treated well by my boss that that gave me notification.

If you got the package, you know what it is. If you didn't get it today, then you're probably safe, at least till the stock price drops again. You get the package when your employment ends and they have received the signed waver that you're not going to sue them.

It isn't bad, it isn't great. It sounds better than it is since they pulled a few tricks to get around the 45 day notice requirement for layoffs. This was notification day. This is the third one of these I've been though and it was handled pretty well, but the package was pretty standard.

Received my "parting gifts" this morning. In my opinion, SWN is a class act. Layoffs are not good for anyone. I was treated with respect, professionalism and grace.
