Question about WFM job reference

Hi Guys, laid off person here. Does anyone know the policy on using WFM as a job reference? I'm speaking of something more than just confirming that I worked there. I couldn't find out anything from the gig and was given no info. when I left. Trying to avoid actually calling the store. I'm guessing they have some "rules" about it? Thanks.

Wow. That sucks. I wish people doing the hiring would get the memo because everywhere I've applied for wants a "recommendation" not just a "confirmation" that I worked there. I thought "theworknumber" was just for people to check on your money etc. So people who were laid-off, because their job title got eliminated, can't, under WFM law, can't provide a personal reference? The person who commented just before me, says this is the norm with a lot of companies now? This stresses me out.

In the age of litigation companies really can't say anymore. It sucks but that is the world we live in.

WFM policy is to only verify dates of employment, wage and job title. All other inquiries are sent to a third party company: theworknumber.com. WFM leadership is specifically told not to provide any additional information or provide personal references.

I'm now thrilled to be out of WFM and love my new company. Life after WFM is good, really good.

Good luck on your job search.

It will have to be a personal reference from your TL/STL, WFM has a policy of only providing proof of employment.

no rules, its part of your employment history. If you left on good terms with your store, ask someone in store leadership first before putting their name down as a reference.
