Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

To the remaining employees of SWN...

Ask yourself - why am I still here? The answer...someone (ranked higher than you) believes in you and took your name out of "the hat". That person is probably dying right now because they could not take everyone's name out. Lets talk about this person for a second (the manager). He/she was also likely the subject of a hat on the exec level. The execs are subject to the Boards hat. There are many layers and soo many different scenarios that could play out. We can all get caught up in this "hat" game pretty easily and attempt to play out strategic scenerios in our head...but why? This isn't powerball, it is your livelihood at stake. Ask yourself 1 fundamental question...can SWN survive this debt storm? Let's take a risk and say - yes. The next question is - are you ready to take a hit on raises, bonus, and stock awards while they catch up? Hmm

If I were a SWN 2.0 employee I would seriously consider jumping ship to solid ground and use the "still employed" mark as a resume booster while I still can.

Another thing the formula - people whom were layed off were locked out of their comp while everyone else worked away...Awkward! I get the whole data sensitivity comp access thing but these individuals had to walk through a security gate at the entrance and scan a badge. An HR rep could have easily taken it from there. If I were in the "let go" group, I would have much rather been escorted from the gate to a waiting room of sorts to embrace with others in the same shoes instead of enduring humiliation in front of fellow co workers who have to pretend to work away like nothing is happening.

I wish you well. I wish SWN well. I really believe they will eventually, several years from now, be able to pick things back up. Will you wait for their timing?

I'm with you they need to work, but most of the real ass busters were laid off. My bet is SWN is in for another rough ride with the same dumb ass Managers and VPs that got us to this point. We have some tough days ahead.
