Axes flying today? What is the success rate of the 'career assistance' company being offered?

I was laid off a couple of years ago. The service was pretty good. It is worth your time to use it.
The job assistance they offered with the severance package is decent. You fill out a lengthy questionnaire--and from that they put a really nice resume together. You go for a 1 day "training" where they help you with interview questions and LinkedIn. I thought all of this was really helpful. After that, you get a job coach who wants to talk weekly. I didn't feel this was helpful. This company didn't really find me jobs to apply for--I did that all on my own. I found the job coach more annoying than anything. They do preach that most of your day should be reaching out to your contacts for help finding a job. They stress that 80% of the people find their next job through people they know. I was happy to have the new resume and other training. And very glad I was laid off and no longer have to deal with Follett.
They helped me with my resume and linked-in profiles which are important. Despite all the warnings on this board to update my resume before you get laid off, I waited. So it did help me get moving and eventually get a job.

I'm sure it will reduce severance, and help earn Follett a few bucks off of the placements. It is likely a far better thing for Follett, than those who had served it.
