My husband is a US expat in another country whose must leave time was cut short by 6 mo. He is in scope. What happens next. I am confused. He can apply for up to 4 positions if he chooses .....? Around March 10th? When will this take place? When will he know something ? I do not feel hopeful of him getting another position with Chevron but when will he know for sure? What day in March?

I believe the Australians are trying to cut back on ex-pats. Apparently they will do it on a swap basis with Australians coming back from overseas? Maybe this is the future to help keep some costs down?
There's alot of "strange info" going around...
I think 1zjn meant to say, "what kind of strange info", and therefore no insult intended. I realize like the rest of us, that there are a lot of "potty-mouthed" foul people on this message board, so it is easy to jump to conclusions that people have mal-intent with their posts, but in the case of 1zjn I think no malice was intended.
Thanks for the life insurance info!
1cfc, the workers life insurance policy is not discontinued after they terminate from active payroll. MetLife gives you the choice of continuing the basic life policy (2-year salary) that Chevron was providing for free. Only now, the retiree will have to continue making the monthly payments. MetLife will send papers in the mail with the premium amount to pay. You can also choice to notify them you decline coverage. It's important to mention if the retiree also had supplemental or dependant life insurance, these policies will continue until you tell Chevron to stop paying them. Any delay in notifying the Chevron Benefits Center will result in a past due amount for each month you postpone acting. Chevron pays the premium on the 1st of each month.
You are totally out of line, just because you are a cheater dont presume the rest of us are.
To the OP, you are obviously concerned about the wellfare of you family and Im sorry you are exposed to an unprovoked and rude attack.
What country is your husband an expat in? Just wondering what kind of strange he's been getting.....
What happens to a workers' life insurance policy after they get laid off? Anyway to continue it?
I have asked and he has told me. Our communication has been hit and miss because he has been out of the country still working most of these last few weeks. He has thrown out a couple different dates to me and I wanted to get clarification. He is just finding things out as he goes along and I am looking at other sources ( this website ) to ask more questions and find out as much info on my own as possible. Thanks
The ESP FAQ website and the HR training sessions are pretty clear on the timing.
Jobs will be open for posting from March 7-15, 2015.
Decisions will be made the week after (if they have not been made already for certain positions/incumbents). Don't forget the BUs had to open up 60% of positions but that doesn't mean they will replace 60% of their staff. Many incumbents will just be put back in their old job. That way they can say they were following the enterprise guidelines but due to a lack of qualified candidates they had to put their own candidate back in.
Employee notifications will be made April 7-11, depending on whether the person is off Thursday or Friday. Most employees will know by April 8th.
Then they employees 'left standing' get 60 more days on the payroll (due to Federal WARN act). After the last day on the payroll the severance will kick in, but it may be a few weeks before it gets mailed out. It is still unclear whether some employees will be asked to hand around for part of their 60 days to do a handover or if everyone will be sent home the same day they get notified.
Most expats are probably better off financially assuming they build some reserve with that extra money they made.
Yeah why not ask him yourself! He should be your 1st source of information.. you'd think!!
Decisions will be made in the 10 days after March 28. Notifications begin April 7.
Why not ask him? He has all the information you are asking
I'm sorry to hear this, but alot of us are facing the same uncertainty. We will all find out our fate in due course. Stay positive if you can.
