I found it ironic, and a bit humorous, that they had a contractor HR person giving us the instructions on how to handle the ROM procedures. At least we know who the last one to turn the lights off would be, I suppose.

Being able to raise my hand after four years and have the lifers look at me like "how could you ever leave this company?" Because it's all they know. It was then I realized I was doing the right thing, I don't ever want to feel trapped anywhere, or like this is as good as it's going to get. Because it isn't, not by a long shot. Staying at chevron too long robs you of something, I think it's a sense of worth. Everyone I work with has so little self worth. It's scary.

Like qqg, the time gap between being notified of layoff and finally leaving the company. I had lots of notice which allowed me to find a better job. But really enjoyed that time gap...knew I was gonna be leaving so I did the absolute minimum.

the ineptitude of HR. they are completely useless in this 'get laid off training sessions' and when trying to answer employee questions

qqg Amen brother. This would have been done with much more efficiency in the real world. Love me some Chevron horrendous execution this time.

That it took a year longer to fire me, and I got a year more worth of pay than I would've at a functioning company...and we were all complaining about the bureaucracy.

The fat lady hadn't finished singing yet. But my favorite thing would be to see my supervisor get canned completely. Over and out of the company!
