Metrics was very important, and painting little squares on the floor. Weatherford is the modern day corporate monster. It's all about justifying your own existence to the board or your next level up manager. The industry, who gives a fuc*. Not anyone who wasn't putting on those work gloves here and there. There were many good guys chewed up and spit out by that place. Natty gas field's a burial ground for a lot of worker's American Dreams. I'm trying to go back to school now. Getting too old for the gravel pit.

The Weatherford managers I saw were new hires with no experience in the field they were managing. Focused on spreadsheets and powerpoints. If your powerpoint presentation didn't have enough flashy pictures for the monthly meeting they would complain. Basically, no substance, just flash.

The explanation why there is poor training at Weatherford? Because Weatherford management really don't know how to apply technology themselves enough, to be able to make an assessment about what is needed.

Consider that. Fact is that it is rare to find a Weatherford manager that actually has the ability to solve problems that Weatherford customers need.

Management are all talk.

Employees at Weatherford are typically mediocre. Rarely the best students. And often with substandard track records. If they're good hands, they have poor people skills. If they have good people skills, they talk the talk, but don't really know how to solve problems - just plain dumb most of the time.

Good at going to lunch and doing expense accounts is about the best performance you get out of many of them. Also good at filling time and space.

It seems that incompetence is a requirement to work for Weatherford. It is doubly as important if you want to get a promotion within WFT.

Everyone is an idiot to the onlooker if their ego is in need of a boost and love, appreciation, and being valued. Its human nature....
