Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

EOI Question

It is my intent to Express an Interest to be left standing to receive a Severance package. (EOI)

How much weight does expressing an interest carry with the ESP when your management wants to keep you.

They used up there 40% of closed positions on supervisors.

In the past, ROM reps have honored the EOI 95% of the time according to my ROM rep's memory. The repatriated expats will thank you for volunteering as tribute.

Expressing a willingness to be "left standing" may depend on your current job position and how valuable management perceives you to be. It's possible your supervisor may try to convince you to stay and offer you preferential treatment in the rankings next year, and maybe not. On the other hand, my take is the company may oblige you on your request to be laid off. A company knows it's preferable to let someone go if they ask to be let go rather than keep an unhappy or disgruntled employee. Unhappy employees turn out to be unproductive for the business. If you want to go, raise your hand and let your supervisor and his manager know you are raising it high.
