Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

My sister celebrated 37 years at Halliburton today and to thank her they laid her off. What has happened to companies and their loyalty?

Shareholders are the ONLY thing Halliburton thinks about! If they ran the business better, the layoffs would be minimized. Why don't the high paid executives forgo their bonuses until the company turns around??? That would save thousands of jobs. Also, pension?? Halliburton has no pension and they cap their layoff package at 13 weeks, no matter how long you work for the company. So as far as retiring from Halliburton when you get laid off...forget it! Get the facts before you post things that aren't true.

Sorry she got laid off but all Hal owes anybody is a day's pay for a day's work. She didn't give them anything. They paid her for what she did. If you owned a small company that was bleeding money and in a son-sustainable situation, would you keep your entire staff and drive yourself into bankruptcy? If so, that probably explains why you don't own a business. You would put every employee out of work instead of some of them.

while I feel bad for everyone who looses their job (been there twice myself), after 37 years with the same company she probably got an early retirement package or was eligible to retire anyway. those folks should take the packages and make room for the 40+ who still need 10-20 more years of work before they can retire.

take the severance and pension plan and enjoy life while you can. travel the world. spend time with family. soon you will have all kinds of ailments that will prevent you from doing that.

Just because you work for a company 35 yr does not mean you get to work there forever... be thankful for the 37 years.

Loyalty went out the door when attention to shareholders took center stage.

Buddy, Democrat or GOP doesn't matter regarding laws that favor the big corporation. Don't be naive, they are all corrupted these days.

The Pryor post is dead on. Do you really think people like Trump,Bush,Christie,Carson,Rubio,Cruz. Care about the working person. That's why the system picks them. I had 40 years with Halliburton. layed me off. I checked with one of the best employment attorneys. Basically taking a look at my case and explained the long drawn out process and how the laws on the books are now for big corporations. Your screwed. So keep putting people like Bush,Trump,Cruz,Reagan in office. Vote conservative. And vote so corporations like Halliburton,Baker,Weatherford. Will always have the upper hand.

Shareholder value is all that matters anymore. People continue to put people in office that refuse to regulate corporate behavior. Sorry about your sister, it sucks.
