Did anyone else get offered a job and do your background checks, take the drug test, get a start date, and sign all your paperwork; only to have them call and say they aren't hiring anymore? All of this after you turned down other job offers?! Ugh!!!

I assure you this isn't a joke. I know of 2 people who this happened to last week. Sad deal.
Joke or not, it's happened in past downturns. I've seen a lot in 30 years. :(. And yes, don't turn down jobs that are not in the oil field.

Yeah I'm going to have to agree with the person above. Why oh why would you turn down other jobs in hope of landing a job in oil and gas when world wide lay offs have total of 250,000. Should have taken the other offers
Sorry you didn't get the job. But taking a job at a service company in a severe down turn was a bold move. Not entirely sure what you expected.
