Are sears and kmart still laying people off? then this thread is still viable
Yeah...this thread is pretty old...I'm surprised there were still soft lines Sam left. Ours got eliminated like 2 years ago.
Did you seriously just post in a thread from a year ago?
Got my papers Jan 29. One manager, one assistant. I was softlines ASM. Still have yet to receive my severance... HR at 88Sears answers to no one.
04-1812016 Let go only after finishing a project which I had spent all weekend doing as the due date moved. My boss never looked at me - just read stupid downturn mantra. Got no vacation as I had been out for a medical procedure even though I used my personal days. They told me under rules my time at Sears was worth a week - Been there a year and was then told only because of 60 day notice did I get more than two weeks they were giving others in next round. They turned off my insurance by Tuesday.
I don't know anybody that was let go getting a good package. After 38yrs I got 8 weeks severance and the 6 weeks vacation I had saved in my vacation bank. We used to get a week for every year up to 20 weeks max. After Sears and Kmart were merged it was changed to a week for every year up to 8 weeks max.
You folks have my sympathy. Those idiots should be brought up on charges for what they did to that company. Any 12 year old of moderate intellect could have told them what was wrong with the stores. Obviously they did not care
Getting rid of assistant managers next is what I hear. going to one manger and one assistant manager. Also, going to no leads in any department
Got let go Friday. Severance pay only 8 weeks for hourly after 29 years.
Softline lead here, was told two weeks ago my position was liquidated. Today was my last effective day. Two other lead positions were cut as well.
It's been pretty quite today... Anyone have any news?
What type of jobs were eliminated at Hoffman estates? Were they higher level or low paying jobs? At the store level, today is the last day for the hard line MCA leads and many softline leads. How it is expected to keep the store open with no associates is crazy. Yesterday I covered 4 departments plus the hardware cashwrap on single coverage for my entire 8 hour shift. When we closed last nine at 8 o'clock there were 6 associates working, and we are a large store. It is nuts.
Yes I was
My husband and I were both at Hoffman, and he got let go this AM. So did his director, and four people from my own team. I heard 250 people total.
What position? Were you at Hoffman?
