lots of jobs to apply for at nov Gateshead for you lads
Move the Workshop to Dundee to save money
Do you honestly think a forum like this would be respectful!!! Should never of been started!!
Apart from that f--- off
Come on to f--- lads, can't believe how bitchy and pointless this post has became, regardless if you are safe unsafe it's the management who has messed us about. One thing this has proved is the amount of boys who think only for themselves more snakes than it seems! Don't mind bit of banter but let's see any of you say it to someone's face. Thought not.
We need to calm down!! Let's all go to church on Sunday and have faith in God! Shine the light on us
Hear, hear, obviously the idiot mong doesn't have an ounce of decency in their bones, it's either an employee who has not been selected for redundancy or someone whose maw dropped them on their head as a bairn!
Purchasing has not escaped. They went through redudencys 6 weeks ago and lost staff.
X3 supervisors in purchasing department and 6,7 employees under them! I would pay off 2 supervisors..how they escaped!!
if the foundations are made of crap yer house will sink!! some really good guys are gonna loose jobs, hope they will find something soon.
Like houses, people can downsize careers if they wanted to do so. Irrespective of what needs to be done, the price of oil is out with NOV control. It's all about effective planning, efficiency, and cost control, whilst at the same time setting realistic targets........! Just need to get rid of the concept that 10% of all parts, spares etc must be purchased from other NOV facilities, to satisfy Montrose demand.
We all know NOV makes crap parts, so buy crap, fix with crap, sell crap equipment at a high price, only one way to end, badly......!
if they have the know how and the experience why are they at the lower level? are they single-handedly going to get the price of oil up? n.o.v through failing to plan, poor leadership, top heavy office staff and reworking jobs countless times have become an expensive option for oil companies who are not making the big money just now.
no way would I want to be in charge the now, lets face it whoever was doing the job would have to be cutting the workforce, they will be getting told that from much higher up.
Sorry to post a heart felt statement on the site . Some people getting wrong idea of my post. Just hope things turn around and pick up for everyone in Angus District.
Hey just wanted to say to you shop floor NOV Engineering Guys in Montrose that I met were helpful during my very short time with the company.
Still wish I was working in Oil Industry but .......... Sorry if I upset someone, as I realise how hard it must be in Angus @ the moment.
Joined NOV Montrose as a trainee July 2014 , with a great bunch of guys, looking forward to a new life in the oil industry, unfortunately 1 year later after a visit to sea drill west Gemini in Angola I was made redundant.
As an engineer, may I say, I worked with great bunch guys in my short life in the oil industry, no bad feelings at all, as I was treated well by managers and staff during the redundancy period.
I left NOV and now busy in the Aerospace Industry mainly Airbus ,
What the f---s goin on now heard all fitters now at risk?
Hahaha so the Nov machinists are appealing for only 1 to go!!! Scared boys?? Thought someone had things sown up there lol!! Yeah let's keep 2 on dayshift!! As a fitter I'm appealing aswell! All rules apply to each person
Unfortunately there will always be the dishonest people who are very clever in playing the political blame game. Guess what, like those in Westminster bullshit gets you to the top, but for sure bullshit ain't gonna keep you there.
Do the decent thing and step down, and let those with the know how try to salvage something from this mess.
The 1st people to go should be non productive at all costs! It's a hard challenge to find these skilled guys..then there's a battle to keep then! I heard a lot of guys are going this time in the shop so the master plan must be to give boiler suits to the assistant planners etc
I think we should try and look at the issue as to why all the HR personnel have left in the last 18 months? What has been going on within the company here to make them all leave? Surely I am not the only one who has thought this? Something fishy.
The new workshop is a complete joke..we had rfe equipment stuck in there for years!! Should never be now that they have been found out to be worthless!! Pce and national make all the money and as we are not losing our jobs, it means that rfe are USELESS ..enjoy the dole
Poor management is your department boss not knowing what your job function is or the value of it when deciding pools
Bitching and backstabbing will make for a pretty sh--e atmosphere at work when all said and done
Does saddle bags swallee, could dee with a nosh at break
Ye canni blame people for venting and telling it how they see it, friendships dinni pay your bills
I get that it's a very stressful, anxious and worrying time for us all but really I thought that we had made some great friendships both in and out of work yet here we all are throwing mud, naming and shaming I guess to try and make someone seem a better candidate to be put out work rather than ourselves whilst doing exactly what someone said further back in the messages, sitting behind a computer or a phone. This crisis is hitting here and now and wether it's me or you that looses our job we have a family to support and ultimately that's what counts, so I guess a little compassion towards each other might be better thought of than a free for all!! Just a thought
Tae be fair people av had enough of being treat like sh--e and booted in der knackers people wee should be up for redundency inni even looked at 2 business analysts int cabins what they analysing each other cause there's nee business tae analyse
you cant blame the guys from the bottom shop for whats happened in the oil industry, these guys can always go back to being a mechanic, everybody wants to progress in life.
it`s always been promotion for failure in NOV, thanks thanks is proof of that, yeah sure biffs a fool but what about before him? was it great then? did thanks sign your overtime sheet? are certain people on "mates rates" before biff got there? p.s NOV will move everything back to U.S.A within the next 18 months so enjoy the shift rate and make hay while the sun shines.
Nae chance anybody has the categories for scoring
Agree with below comment, if I am at risk and pools have not been changed I will make sure other names are mentioned and argue the scoring system which is now done seperately by chargehands and Stewart for those who missed toolbox talk, which means no chargehand favouritism e.g. russel can't save willie or patch
I heard that all the ex-Halliburton boys are safe, so that'll mean that Saddlebags can keep noshing off members of the bicycle club and doing all her other projects and committees and bake sales instead of actually doing whatever it was she was actually supposedly employed to do.
Why does NOV have 2 Facility's open 30 miles away from each other. Montrose and Dundee.
The Dundee offices were opened to house the management and Technical Support in 2014 because Montrose was too small, NOV purchased the land for a 20 year plan in Dundee.
I hope that all cost saving methods have been looked at including looking at the expense of keeping 2 premises open when employees face this hard and uncertain future.
If the head count is been reduced there must be plenty of space back in Montrose
Now that surprises me - Biff being honest? Surely not! Where it not that this place is far too handy to walk to in the morning I'd have thought that he'd be well overdue to leave as his general average is about 3 years in position before being found out or leaving before so. He's nothing more that a self trained clueless accountant and with comments like "it's just a piece of metal" and "if you can strip something you must be able to put it back together again", it just goes to prove what kind of brainless moron he really is.
So today's toolbox talk workshop manager bill Cummings aka the lochy king openly admits he has made a f### up with the pools of people who are at risk. If the management can't even do this right what chance have we got.
Let's face facts! Oil industry is finished with the big time!! If you want work then go overseas as the North Sea is f---ed!! Stop kidding yourself! Why stay and be treated like a nobody
You're not the only one buddy but why would they support you, they don't care. Good luck
Told you possibly going to be made redundant and then left to sit and stew with no support from the company until they make a decision, disgrace
Just awY to finish nightshift and what a joke! Just as well there's not any rope around! Good morning
If its a case of an advert going live for a planner then everybody is being screwed, is it time to grow some balls and all walk out on strike
I think in life everyone just wants to be treated fairly but NOV aren't treating anyone fairly.
Speaking off workshop matters...why are the pce and national outfit safe!! Some off the worst fitters or so called fitters work there!
