Thread regarding Baker Hughes Inc. layoffs

Manager's point of view

We in upper management are bone and flesh too. It's a matter of survival now. No one is partying.

It's not fair to expect a job security. If you have any issues call the VPs. We are all ears.

Let's not make it personal.

The market is a very big part of the reason that baker is in the shape it is now, but I do believe upper management is just as much to blame. For years we have wasted money paying for a very top heavy management group. There have also been very poor decisions made by executive management over the past few years on personal moves.

Thing is if you are run by a top notch management team they are well respected for their decisions. I do not believe that is the case at baker. Bottom line is times like this show the true character of a company and its leaders. I'm sorry but I don't see it.

If upper management cares so much why do the higher ups keep moving up, creating positions for growth and development for themselves and their few chosen children but all the underlings get laid off or kept from advancing?

That's not true. Due consideration is given to each case before deciding. Best value is determined before layoffs.

There is NO morale in BHI, the VP's and up don't give a crap about anything or their people. Upper management is a bunch of spineless Bastards.

Being a VP and controlling headcount always gave me incentives. I keep higher paid people on top of the list and as soon as a junior catches up with the job they are the first to go. That's cash savings.

It works out great. I can still talk to you if you like.

People want to give us a bad name and may be they are angry. But it's not Baker controlling the market.

I know some managers won't like to be called and asked questions from the field but there is a big push within the organization to communicate and up the morale.

BHI VP positions are for losers. A person is VP for unprofessional reasons at Baker. Anyone can rattle off a known worthless Baker VP. You must be one of those worthless VP s.
