Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Severance pay or not. Are the round two lay-off going to happen or did it. My store, everyone so quiet. What is WFM planning?

Take care of yourself and start looking for new opportunities. Layoffs always happen suddenly.....and store closings or bankruptcies are even stealthier---although I think we can all see the signs of decline! Whole Foods is a company in a lot of trouble. I doubt it will even exist 5 years from now. So don't wait for this to happen, make an escape plan for yourself now.

She probably wasn't changing the world fast enough. In order to properly change the world, you have to get really good at doing absolutely NOTHING. Walk around the stores pointing at things and making obvious observations. Say this or that endcap needs to be reversed or that the cheese isn't stacked a certain way so re-stack it. Be sure to arrive fashionably late to do this...like after a champagne brunch. Also use words like "re-imagining" and "reaching out." Clearly this former executive will need to spend more time reaching out and re-imagining how to change the world. Then she can return triumphantly to the region to begin anew.

401k should have a withdrawal option if you no longer work there. Penalties of course will be subtracted. You should be able to withdrawal and/or rollover.

GDAo2XC-giv, unless you are experiencing a severe financial hardship, you won't be eligible to cash out your 401(k), unless you're retiring. Just wanted to clarify.

Can anyone tell me who is Mamma?

Yes...anytime you quit you will get 100 percent of your PTO. You can even cash out your 401k if you have one.

1-800-638-0800 Please contact these people and inquire about starting a union. They unionized most major grocery stores and help them secure there jobs. they can do the same for us.

My guess is all is quiet before the storm (if any). My question is with all the labor budget cuts and tight scheduling, are there any plans for a store meeting? Normally, there is one in the first quarter to recap on the holidays and more! Not that I bother!

No severance. Attrition is the word being thrown around. It basically means people will quit because of poor working conditions. Notice how sh--ty your aisles look? See lots of truck not thrown yet, from days ago? Oh what's this? A pallet of new items just sitting in the back? Tags don't work? Part timers not showing up to work at the sh-- circus? All of the current sh-- you see is only gonna get worse because more people who actually work will be leaving. Their will always be moochers and people who don't work very hard because they feel victimized for having to work. Lots of those folks still work here, but not for long.

In my many years with WFM I have seen one unqualified person after another in leadership roles. The area coordinators are often cocky a--holes. And despite the anti-nepotism stance in the GIG it has been proven time and again that nepotism is alive and well. So...no suprise to me that sometime soon names like Flash, Nona, Jennifer Wind and super star Mediterranean Yanni will find themselves out too. Mamma quietly stepped down, btw.

Sinking ship....

Prices still not going down....I too feel stuck at wfm, but I am looking. It's called attrition. No severance, unfortunately.
