1qro: A lot of people could have left with offers in hand if they were willing to relocate. It's more difficult to find something in a particular area in the SD area--especially if you are not a "newbie," a sys/admin, or someone who is willing to do test work. I had offers before leaving; but my wife has a position that does not permit her to relocate immediately.
I have a software engineer friend unemployed 12 months.
"Most of them" means FW, SW or ASIC guy? The offers are from Bay Area or San Diego? I interviewed an 8-year experience Q asic guy last December, he told me he got lots of interview chances from Bay area and got offer too. And he said he had ony one interview chance in Southern California at my current small company.
Most of them had multiple in-hand offers even before the last day at Qcom !!
Six months on the EEOC unemployment gravy train in the great welfare state to extract maximum benefits.
Had several options lined up prior to the November layoff. Still get weekly emails from recruiters trying to place me with various companies related to my subject matter expertise.

Me. 4 months as of 3/20.
