This company is not worth trying to survive the lay-offs in. It's a blessing to get out of here. You just don't realize it until it is said and done.

So if they get laid off, they got screwed twice.
If your pregnant you can get laid off even while your on mat leave. The day you get back they can lay you off. All is fair game if your position is no longer required. It's actually nicer for the company because they don't need an excuse to get rid of a an employee who is taxing on benifits and time which is money!
In the 2009-2010 layoffs management laid off pregnant women. I'm not sure about these rounds, but in the past, pregnancy definitely did not prevent layoffs.
I completely agree women are getting pregnant to keep their jobs. Talk about working the system they are probably Obama and Clinton supporters along with the H1B1 visa holders which by the way can't vote but I know they would love to.
LyMz: you ignorant sl--........
Well, this seems to be the strategy adopter by some people next door at Shell, as well.........
Actually it could make you a bigger target. Those women who plan each kid out to work just enough time to manipulate the system. I'm not saying all women do that but there are certainly those who do. I know because I am a woman and hear the stories. To those who do this you piss off your coworkers and employers because we pick up your slack for sick days you take ALL the time, dr appointments, training new people and on and on and on. No wonder we get paid less than men.
Need some help???
nqd is absolutely correct. During the October layoff a pregnant employee in RBU Land was laid off.
Hate to bust your bubble but getting pregnant does NOT keep you safe from being laied off. Ask HR.
Congrats!
Right...
