@aln - hang in there man, I was in a very similar situation like you, three kids, wife does not work, 11 years with the company, laid off in the first wave in 2015. It took me 4 months to find work, switched industries, 40% less pay, but more stable. We live modestly and will be fine.
I just found this site and just was released this week I went to a funeral today of another offshore worker and I do suffer and stress now I have been released. I left school when I was 15 and have actually never been unemployed before . I have been doing my job so long now that the thought of job hunting is stressing me, and with the industry like it is God knows when I might find work again I am / was the sole earner in my family due to wife's health and have three kids. I have never not worked. BUT I can't understand why trolls on here just make light of what some of us are going through in your completely inhumane way .
For those of you out there going through this too I have no great words of wisdom for you (sorry) but enjoy your family while you search for something and good luck
No suffer and or agonize after the 'royal escort', but do miss work buddies and the daily regiment after 32 years. However, there is SO much after the 'blue', we just thought 'blue' was the only place. Always, always, watch your back, especially now! You never know when you'll be next.

I no longer suffer and agonize over being laid off. Because I am laid off. LOL. It's not too bad really, but the pay sucks.
It's better than having a curry phobia like some buffoons on this site. What say you?
