Will we get letters Thursday? Sooner? Sit down talk with supervisor, email, snail mail?

It is a very embarrassing process. My former BU used a calendar meeting request to do the deed in a private setting on different floor. Of course the armed security knew what was going on but most of my colleagues were completely unaware. You prepare and travel light that day - no big bags etc... I managed to travel to my car by myself. Another coworker told me he was escorted to his car. Had I decided to return to my desk - there were 5 or 6 security personnel who appeared to be waiting to escort. In fairness, I was offered an opportunity to stay and pack up, come back on Friday or the weekend to remove personal items. I chose to leave immediately but I suppose they are people who go back to their offices to pack. I've witnessed those (over the years) who have chosen to go back and pack - I know it was humiliating for them as well as gut wrenching for those witnessing human misery. The tears and agony observed will be remembered a lifetime knowing you are helpless and are unable to provide any meaniful consolation to the affected. You carry that experience the rest of your life knowing you could easily be next. Chevron will go on and will eventually have employee meetings starting with great somber over recent events, talking about friends and colleagues who have been released and then about the new business plan they must meet with the remaining staff. The only real advice I can offer is to live beneath your means and save whatever you can in preparation for when your time comes. It may not be this week, but with sustained oil prices below $40/bbl, Chevron will staff and compensate according to the price environment.

Omg. I'm in scope. I've already cleaned out my office and my laptop, etc. I don't want to show on Thursday I will be in knots!!!! It will be embarrassing to be escorted!

I think supervisors have already been informed verbally by their Managers last week but the official email/face-to-face communication will be on Thursday.

I was told on Friday that left standing will be escorted out immediately and your belongings will be fedex'd to your house.

From my experience having been trough a few of these "events" the majority will be asked to leave immediately, sometimes they schedule return times for escorted clean out of the office. A very few will be asked to stay and return to work for a few weeks to transition work or finish a project, I agree use the remaining time to your advantage, at a minimum get your outlook contact list and contact info for your HR rep.

For l9cals there will be no transition. Thursday is it. Expats will have transition time while move logistics get worked out and will then be officially laid off once repatriated.

Spend Monday to Wednesday cleaning out office and computer files. You won't have the chance on Thursday.

Does this mean there will be no transition time to hand over work? Thursday will be it?

@xnq is probably right. On Wednesday, your supervisor will be informed if they need to deliver bad news to you the next day. On Wednesday, pay close attention to your bosses' body language. If they appear aloof, can't look you sincerely or for too long in your eyes, walk away after responding to a question, anything not typical in their usual behavior with you... go back to your cubicle and pray it's all in your head. Then, just in case, start preparing yourself for a hard day tomorrow.

I heard that the immediate management will be notified on Wednesday as to who will be let go. Thè people getting cut will be individually notified on Thursday and will have to immediately turn in their badge, keys and laptop and be escorted to HR and out of the building. This process will last all day. There will be plenty of cars, cops and building security around.
