Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Is this putting sales associates between a rock and a hard place?

Yesterday our ASM st Sears told us that our store was taking too many mark downs on sales to match Sears.com lower prices and no delivery charges. So now we are not to match Sears.com unless the member insists on the lower prices. Also they do not want us to store to homes on Seats.com anymore unless there are no other options because the store only actually gets credit for .25 % of the sale from .com sales. It is like taking out of both sides of your mouth at the same time. What are other stores hearing about mark downs? No sales associates want to take markdowns since it lowers the already low commission rates. But so many members come into the stores already knowing the prices are less on Sears.com and want that price. It really puts us into a difficult position,I wonder if the people who make these policies have ever worked as a sales associate in Sears.

The full line stores are different than the auto center when it comes to on line sales,we donot have any option to tag an order with our number and get ctredfit for the sale, even through the item comes out of our store stock no one gets any credit but .com for the sale. It is amazing that Sears let's the auto center get credit for on line orders.

Over Christmas we had people asking if we could match prices for items we had in stock and they wanted to take with them right now. We were not allowed to match the price (which sometimes was hundreds of dollars) because Sears headquarters wanted to make our online sales look better. Let's not worry about sales and customer service, lets worry about some metric or some deception of online sales we are trying to portray.

I work in the automotive section. We are not permitted to match sears, com prices on tires. When I give a quote on tires and the customer says it's too much (which it is), I tell them to go online and they will receive a cheaper price. Then I watch the computer for the online order to appear. I log on and tag the order with my number and still get the commission. If they would let me match the price while the customer was in front of me my kill rate would be so much higher.
