Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Transition Position

Work 6 more months training a contractor to do my job.

That's what it will take for me to get the severance package.

Be thankful. You've got 6 months to look for a job, 6 months of long lunches, etc.

I was laid off last year with Alpha. I was offered and accepted a 6 week transitional position to hand off my job. For me, it was a good thing. I able ease my way out the door. Say a proper goodbye to my friends and those I cared about.

I'd have taken the 6 months of guaranteed work, when they let me go. I've been unemployed for 6 months now. Just suck it up, and do it. You'll also get a big bonus check next year, once you add in this next 6 months.

Or he could simply walk and let Chevron keep the money, if he has a better job offer. Take your prick. If he doesn't have a job offer. what's it gonna hurt to get more hours/experience being a coach&supervisor/more pay/more benefits/more time to wait out the oil glut/better resume while looking for a job since you are not"unemployed"/ etc. etc.

You have been given a gift. Don't look a Gift Horse in the Mouth.

Times is hard all over. Others simply get thrown on the street.

Hey, that is 6 more months of pay and benefits, then you will get to move the severance into 2017, lowering the tax burden on it. I consider that a win my friend.
