Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

HUGE DISTRACTION

Expats are the low hanging fruit. No one is safe, Green badges and Blue badges are getting cut. I'll be glad when this is all over so the one's that are left, possibly not me, can pick up the pieces and get back to business.

This is a HUGE distraction causing a lack of focus on safety and work. There will be repercussions with the reduced work force but Chevron should know that by now, this isn't the first re-org / down sizing.

I was in Malongo recently. The Camp is experiencing huge cuts to the ex-pat community. It is turning into a ghost town. No one is doing anything, safety comes second or third if at all. The food has gotten noticeably worse. Camp services is non-existent. More cuts to come. Huston Express is practically empty, especially coming to Angola. The overall attitude is gloom and doom.

I'm concerned that if we do this ROM again that the process will be even less fair for people without political connections. If you're new to your role, your PMP score will be a 2 no matter what you do. Kinda sucks in this situation because you're at the bottom of the performance ranking at no fault of your own. They will high grade those left standing and cut out another 15-25% off the bottom.

OP - I have not noticed what you are talking about. All of the people that I have worked with that were involved in the ESP acted professionally and were still doing their jobs. No compromises, especially safety. There is no reason to put yourself or anyone else at risk of injury just because of layoffs. A lost job is temporary. An injury, or death, would be permanent.
