Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Why?

Why is absolutely nothing being done about morale? It is not just the normal whinning people it is everyone. They are so down so miserable and noone does anything about it...just because things are tough does not mean job loathing is a required part of it. You can have slow times and use that extra time to engage with your employees to build relationships then when things pick up they will work that much harder for you. As it stands you are going to have a hard time getting even the most dedicated employees to so much as flush the toilet.

Perhaps it's because the morale in the executive suites is just as bad if not worse...

I get what you're saying. However, no one has to wait for management to do something about morale. You will unlikely solve the problem by yourself but every little bit helps.

Hang in there, no oil slump lasts forever.

COP does not give a sh-- about us!

It's a company who places no value on it's people and basically blows smoke about Spirit values.

Do yourself a favor and find a different job.

I wish there was a 'Like' button for this. One of the unintended consequences/effects of this with be workforce apathy, especially when times inevitably change (and they will, we just don'tknow when)
