Chiefs, Indians, and Indians that are chiefs, the topic is "Not Too big to fail - too big to function". And yes there is a problem in IB where a lot of the chiefs are doing the work of the Indians and where the Indians are being appointed chiefs (All puns are intended!) leading to a ratio of sometimes 4:1 (managers:workers - managers at various levels) - managers are appointing other managers as they are too busy doing the work themselves! The only way to get ahead is to move up the management chain - the waste is in the duplicate projects and unneeded extra management.

For the last few posters - seems he means Indians in the context of Chiefs (Sr. Managers) vs Indians (workers).. Not referring to ethnicity. That topic deserves a whole thread of its own though...

Too big to fail? In IB - Investment Banking or as said earlier here, Indian Banking, there is tremendous waste. With duplicate IT projects that do the same thing for the end users each with their own team of Indians!

Not enough Indians? Seriously? If this idiot institution thinks they have diversity they're crazy. They have made an Indian majority footprint and every other category of human existence is a minority. Just because you have everyone walking the hallway as an import dot head, doesn't count as being diverse. Let's just imagine if every dot head walking the hall was a white male, would we still need to be striving for diversity and replace every current white male with a, oh, hell, Mexican. Would we then need to be striving for diversity? I'm thinking no. If we had no white males at BAC, there'd be no calls for diversity.

Too many chiefs and not enough Indians is the theme for my group. I've never seen anything like it before. It's awful. When your team is 60% Indians and 40% chiefs, it's demoralizing. It's confusing. It causes a lot of posturing. And who is safe? Will they get rid of an Indian and "demote" a chief? Such a disheartening set up.
