Forget about rats. Worry about the pet monitor lizard!
@rdh, here in the Houston downtown office, we have rats as big as people. Most of them are in management. Watch out.
Watch out for the rats as big as small dogs !
get in the right clique......and stay there
PIck your food carefully, prepare to lose weight, what ever you need haul it in with you. I did my last year with XOM in Nigeria before retiring (35 years was enough). I found the Nigerians (within XOM) to be generally hard working (some are not), good people, family oriented, aware of safety (some aren't), wanting to do a good job (some don't). I'm sure that it will be similar for CHV within Nigeria. The people, work and pay was good, the bureaucracy, contract administration was a negative. Security was always a concern of mine, XOM had there stuff together with respect to security (CHV will be the same) but I just always had a feeling that things could up blow up or fall part quickly in a heart beat. I'm delighted to be retired!
Marinate your dog meat for 3 days with extra garlic. It tastes less wild that way.
Keep it positive. Some great people in Escravos. I have great respect for the Nigerians hired by CVX. Smart hard working people. Tough environment but very livable.
