They lay me off just 1-2 days before I hit my next year of service. That's meant a lot to me coz I lost one month of compensation. It's so sad when I highlighted to them and nothing was being done.

many companies will prorate for partial years (months) but not all of them
like 4.7 years x 2 weeks = 9.4 weeks of severance while others will do 4 yrs x 2 wks = 8 weeks
don't forget there is no law guaranteeing severance. they pay this voluntarily.
the only thing that you have earned and have a right do is your accrued vacation. again some companies will give all annual vacation on Jan. 1st while others accrue on each pay period.
Nope. They did not prorated it. Both HR and the manager in charge of the dept did not do anything when it was highlighted to them. And if I do not accept what they offer me then I have to leave with nothing. I mean it's only a day or two different. It's not even a month. Being layoff is already sad enough and not being compensated fairly really upsetting.
