Thread regarding Sears layoffs

When will we file Bankruptcy?

I am a Sears associate at a mid-size store in Virginia. Our store has ok sales, and is still fully staffed with 5 managers and 4 leads. I heard that we might be on the list of 50+ stores closing after the terrible 4th quarter report. Store hours were just cut, and they have reduced associate hours. Is a massive wave of store closures about to happen? When will we finally file for bankrupty? Anyone at corporate know?

I love my coworkers and my store, but the writing is on the wall. We drive away members with our annoying SYW and Sears Card pitches, our POS systems freeze and crash constantly. The only reason I am staying is because of my amazing coworkers who have become like a family. Everything is broken, and it seems like it is the end of the road :(.

When Sears and KMart merged, they promised that despite moving Kmart HQ to Chicagoland they'd maintain a significant presence in Michigan. A few weeks ago, I noticed a "for lease" sign in front of the good sized Sears Holdings Training Center about 2 miles from the former Kmart HQ. I think the significant presence is ending, and sadly so are Sears and Kmart

Just a theory, but I believe the only way they will file for bankruptcy is when SHLD will no longer be able to secure any lines of credit. When that happens, I also believe it will have a cascading effect on SHLD's stock price and it will tumble and will no longer have any perceived value. And finally, when the stock price reaches the level to where it is in danger of being delisted from NASDAQ, then bankruptcy will be the inevitable outcome. However, as long as they continue to defy the laws of business logic and keep securing credit, irregardless of their negative credit ratings, I don't believe they'll be filing for bankruptcy anytime soon.

My sears store has two managers and four leads left , our ap department was also let go this week. This week we do have more people working on the floor than last week so I guess we were given more staffing hours. Our store has not had any upgrades done to it in over 15 years, we freeze in the winter and roast in the summer.

I think when the revolver comes due in April, SHLD doesn't have the $ 1.3 billion.

Maybe when the few investors who are not Eddie or Bruce or the vendors (who I know read these boards) finally understand just how bad it is at the store level (i.e. Employees who really care about the company and want it to succeed and corporate who have no clue) then it will be the end.

How the suits a corporate can let a once great company fall this far is criminal. The lies, the treatment of employees, the lack of investment in stores, the lack of any upgrade to computer systems, the lack of any incentive to do a great job (raises), the lack of any support from management or corporate are just a few of the reasons this company is and will fail.

I have worked for this company for 20 years and we still have the same computer system, registers and shelving we had when I started. IF you don't change with the times you die.

A shame this happened to a company I was proud to say I worked for. Now I would never say I worked for this company because I don't want to hear the complaints from the few people who still shop here.
