Were 2-' s given this year. If not 2's will also have to go in this ROM.

You are not optimistic, you are not being paid well and are not on the radar. You are getting schmuck pay as a 21 PSG. Stay happy. You are safe.

@3nzk, the positive attitude you expressed in your comment demonstrates to me that you are a valuable person to Chevron and your peers. While often times there are things beyond our control, the simple nature of remaining positive transcends many barriers and perceptions. If your expression is your nature, then I'm sure you will fare better than most your age. I think the 2+ rating you just received is validation of that. Continue doing your good work.

So have all expats been given a 1 ranking in hopes that it helps them find a new position?

I got a 2- for 2015. So trust me 2- have been given. I'll wait to see what happens to me during this ESP.

@2gsi Thank you so much for your kind words. I hope that you are right, but even if you are not, you have made my day. I am in my early 50's, but not at all highly paid, (4% merit raise was nice) so perhaps that will work in my favor. I have always trusted Chevron to do the right thing, and so far, I have not been let down.

I might be one of those dumb guys that truly believes in the Chevron Way, even if I am not always able to see it in everyone around me. Someone has to set the example, even if it is coming from a 21 PSG.

As ESP gets underway, remember that a 2 is the new 2-. If you got a 2 ranking for 2015, be afraid, be very afraid...oh and start looking for a new job now...

@2qek, you received a +2 ranking for 2015, so you have above average skills and performance. Your management validated your +2 ranking among your peers in the same PSG. Your international experience is "Gold"; an invaluable asset to Chevron. While other factors will be considered to determine whether you stay or get laid off (primarily your age and current salary), I think your chances of continuing with Chevron are very good. Best of luck to you.

Well I just got my ranking and hope to God that they take PMP into consideration when selecting people for positions. I am a returning expat with a +2 for 2015. I hope it is enough to keep me employed with Chevron. Of course it is hard to hope for my success when it will come at the expense of another, so I will hope that someone with my skillset chooses severance, and I can slide into the job without hurting anyone.

That is a lot to ask for, I know.

@Gb1IXof-2ehf - I really appreciate your post because I just went through the same problem and I thought I was the only one to have suffered through a "putz" like you describe. I am sorry to hear that so many of these "putz's" are placed into HPE roles. But, now I know the profile better. Same person you describe as the micro-manager functioning as a bottleneck to productivity. Thanks for the feedback!

It royally pisses me off that we cannot rate our managers. I had a horrible manager about 4 years ago that was "trying out the team lead thing". They sucked at leading, inspiring, and clearly communicating. They were a pathological micro-manager, and as a result projects and delivers bottlenecked based on their endless scrutiny and revisions. Their direct reports were very competent at their jobs, and the former team lead was on the HPE fast track, so it's not as if much in the way of a process revamp was needed. We all survived, but it was frustrating to have to bill additional hours to our business partners due to the putz of a team lead.

I went to vote for the primary during lunch. I wish we have a system where the top level of the management will be voted in or out by their true performance rather than the good-o-boy network. I had been with Chevron for the last 25 years. Half of the managers do not deserve to be given the job.

Receiving a 2- is not an automatic indicator that you're doomed in ROM years or your "standard" year. Having been through several ROMS, with a variety of ranking #'s (never a 1 or a 3), I can tell you it's more about finding the right person for the job. If you're an older, highly compensated employee with mainly 2's and 2+'s, versus a more recent hire with mainly 2's and a couple of 2-'s (non-consecutive) then they'll weigh if the job can effectively be done at a lower cost by someone that has had some performance challenges. I'm of the mind that sometimes these situations are viewed as stretch scenarios, knowing that someone will be on fire to do a great job if selected.

It's funny to see the trolls reveal themselves as non-Chevron folks when they try to pretend they were ranked. Go somewhere else please, you're not adding to the conversation.

Is it wrong of me to hope that there are a lot of -2 rankings? I figure that the ranking you get at your local level will drop at least 2 spots when it goes to the calibration session. That should put me squarely in the 2 category, but if there were some +2's, they will be -2's and out the door.

Of course those who should be rated -2 will be moved up to +2, so it all evens out.

Forced rankings are alive and well. I received a 2- because I pissed off my boss; he's a jerk anyway. In my opinion, anything less than a 2 is an advanced layoff warning. CABGOC is turning into a ghost town. 2's will also be laid off in the coming months.

It's all about which positions are open. Some very good folks are in Open positions, many probably have the highest ranking. Some Positions will not even be on the org chart and that is where the worry starts.

I got 2 and i am in ROM and 2 doesnt mean anything. I need to post for jobs and compete with others who may have 2+. No guarantees.

Hey Deadwood that's nothing I got ranked a 4 by my 3-rated supervisor. I have a Red Swingline Stapler already packed in my Chevroid company issue backpack that I wear everywhere I go. I am entitled to that backpack even when they cut me off of the tree because I have been dead for so long I almost fell off on my own, but then I woke up and realized that I was at the town hall meeting so I better not waste that valuable time -got to finish my candy crush game. The rest of the backpack is filled with company TP and stolen coffee and things that I need for my entitled first time away from home millennial apartment. I better set the game rules upfront for my next employer because I need, deserve and am entitled to certain luxuries in life and that includes much softer TP than this sandpaper that I have been using. Please forgive me, I have to cut this short to go vote for Bernie "feel the Bern in your empty wallet" Sanders.

BS. There is definitely a forced ranking system in place. They're going to have 2- and 3 ratings at the whim of deadwood mgt. Perhaps more in 2016 than we have seen before. You have seen it - maybe experienced a poor unjustified rating. Very unfortunate that we have deadwood ranking and rating us. Best case situation is to ROM the advisor positions who may have influence on performance - they're not worth the positions to begin with. We all know who they are Best of luck to all.

I got a zero -deadwood. Which ROM does that put me in? This week or next? I'm already packed so let me know soon. I have no pencil sharpener because I took it home already so I can't do much.

The ranking system, to begin with, is a flawed process. I'm not sure what the previous poster means by "somebody earned a 2- or a 3". Who the hell is doing the evaluating and why is there a forced ranking? Read the definition for each grading score (1 through 3) and despite that, you'll find some employees being forced into lower ranking scores. The system is badly flawed.

The guidance we were given was no forced ranking of 2- but if somebody earned a 2- or a 3, we should give it to them.
