Updated Performance Mgmt Process

IBM Human Resources did it right this time. From the basic premise of a need to change, to using agile methods for design and feedback of the process, to rolling it all out to workers.

They really are walking the talk when it comes to how to provide feedback in a fast-moving and hyper-social environment.

While the outside debate goes on on about the value of performance management systems, IBM has done something about it and nobody did this with such grace as we did. IBM has spent time listening to employees and incorporating their feedback into the design elements of the newly developed system.

Now, we have no more forced distribution, with multiple touch-points during the year and a human-scale time horizon around goal-setting and goal attainment.

All around, this is by far the best approach to performance management that I've seen, and I've seen many...

Agree with 1hp, it's all designed to accelerate the attrition process - they want to let you go and they want to cut headcount, they are in the process of dismantling this company, but it'll be a slow death, milking the cash flow and cutting the headcount. Living of existing customer base.

Dear IBM Kool-Aid Drinker,

You realize that the Checkpoint system simply gives IBM more opportunities to fire employees, right? It facilitates IBM's main objective: to reduce headcount drastically over the next few years within the departments that they are aiming to shut down.

@Gb4ARa7-ufv nails it

Whether it is PBC 360 or Checkpoint, the end result is the same, the employee is screwed.

Dear Cheerleader, as an IBM manager, you know that the new performance management process is just one more trick in IBM's bag of tricks to give the helpless workers a false sense of security. In the end, when the directive comes down to cut headcount, the actual performance mgmt process doesn't matter. Whether it is PBC 360 or Checkpoint, the end result is the same, the employee is screwed.
