Getting out of oil and gas

How many of you are planning to leave the oil/gas industry to find a position doing what you're doing now in the medical sector? Any information technology folks planning to leave for the IT positions in major hospitals around Houston?

I am sure make background in deepwater exploration will serve me well. Maybe at the VA. They seem to be in deepwater.

Thankfully I am not a fluffer, however exceeding expectations as a fluffer is frowned upon as it puts production behind schedule..think about it meeting expectations = chub; exceeding = dammit I just washed my hair

"Meets or exceeds expectations" doesn't mean much when you're a fluffer

medical is definitely the way to go in Houston. most of the hospitals in the medical center are hiring.

also check for 'Motiva' jobs (Shell) ... they recently had a lot of postings

while upstream is hurting right now, downstream is hot (until oil goes up again)

Haha this is great. I never planned to get into this business. The money was too good to turn down. Yes it was totally about the money. What guy turns down a 6 figure salary with a batchlors degree out of college. What girl turns that down? A petroleum engineering degree used to melt panties. Ahh... times used to be good.

I really am in porn now. We have a medical shoot planned for next week. In all honesty, medical is not the only other option in houston, the area has diversified greatly and if you are in IT, there are definitely roles out there; assuming chevron and it's antiquated technologies haven't ruined your resume. For the engineers, hopefully you saved your precious bimonthly petrotech bonus bc you are looking at lean times ahead. If not you were a dumb ass and deserve to get laid off for not planning ahead.
