Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

BTW- Dell is not laying off

Worked for Dell for 7 years on some VERY cool stuff. Yes, there are some issues but none I haven't seen also working at Cisco, GE, and JPMorgan Chase.

The pay has been quite competitive and bonuses are regular. Like one of the comments above said, "don't blame " the company - you probably weren't putting into the company what you wee expecting to get out of it.

Accept responsibility for what happens to you and how you move forward. The issue today is too many people blame others.

BTW- Dell is not laying off... And I met Michael Dell and he's probably the most down to earth CEO I've ever met.

Michael only. Took Dell private so he wouldn't have to publish his results and hear the ensuing criticisms. He is a terrible CEO, ruthless and inept.

Dell is shady. I am a current employee and they have no work and are letting people go with no severance. I am on the chopping block in a few weeks.

I was just made redundant this week. Been with Dell since 2000. Bled blue for a long time. Dell is not what it used to be but back in the day it was an electric place to work.

Must be one of the boys from the C-level suite. Compensation is way below average in the industry, bonuses are great for the execs - even when they only give a portion of it. If you're making $250k and your bonus is 75% of that, even half of the expected payout is pretty damn good. If you're like the majority of the company and your bonus level is 5%, you're screwed. Add to that no raises again you have a formula for failure. Are they doing massive layoffs? Not yet (wait until after they try to assimilate 50k EMC employees). Is there a constant culture of small layoffs? Absolutely. Michael may be down to earth but he hasn't turned a profit since he's been back. Not a great track record.
