I agree with the post below this one. Have some confidence in yourself people. You'll get another job. Don't go jump off of a bridge because you now have to allow the government to give you free money. You know you can work part time, if you really want to get back on the horse, AND collect unemployment, right?

Blue collar, we need to have a revolution to kick Owen and his sons out of here

The big one has hit at NOV Orange. Friday will be the last day for a few of us and I've noticed on these overall "lay off" comments that they can get personal and usually negative. I am in my 10th year at NOV Orange and although there will always be a certain amount of disagreement among the employees and management they should never be allowed to become personal. I tend to be a loose cannon so I lean toward seeking permission first and if it takes too long in coming I do it anyway and for the most part cost savings measure I ushered in worked and hopefully will continue after I leave. There will always be, at any company, managers and employees who walk around with their a--hole so tight they need surgery to have a bowel movement, but they are in the minority. Owen Unruh, the director of operations, has always been open to me dealing with him directly if I had an idea which was taking too long to be discussed through the normal channels, he would step in and guide the idea if he felt it had merit. I had a great 10 years at NOV Orange. I met some incredible people and made a few lasting friendships. I will miss a few very much and I hope they realize who they are. To those who are leaving on Friday and to those leaving at a later date accept this as an opportunity. We are leaving we a very generous severance package and NOV will not deny our claim for unemployment. I am going to be 64 this month and my 10 years at NOV Orange was the longest I have ever worked at a job. I leave with a confident attitude toward the future and I hope all of you feel the same way. Good luck!
