take the package.

If you get fired in Shreveport after moving there, you are hosed.

Find another job, and don't waste any more time at Baker Hughes.

Take the package. People are being let go right and left in Shreveport.

Well,... it's obvious that you're a moron,... otherwise, you wouldn't be asking for advice, HERE. But, because I'm feeling rather expansive and charitable, this morning, I'll GIVE you some advice.

By all means! Go ahead and make the move! Find the biggest home you can (barely) afford, put your complete trust and faith in Baker and your own, obviously immense, talents, and indulge yourself, because YOU are, it would seem, of far more worth and import than the rest of us, who are scared, shitless, that we won't even be able to gas up the old wagon, in a week or two.

You're welcome.

You have access to the rig count. Look at how many active rigs Shreveport supports. The main business is the Haynesville. It is way down right now. If they transfer you there and lay you off, you are stuck. They will not pay you to move back. There is not much opportunity there unless you are a black jack dealer or bellman. If you are located in a place with other opportunities, take the package and find something else. Baker won't be around much longer anyway.
