Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

The Axeman cometh. Again to ETC in Q3.

Headcount may be reduced below 2,000. Will probably be confirmed in the upcoming townhall. Many other corporate functions will likely take an additional hit as well. Can't really argue. No one has any work to do.

@GhdmuL7-3wvg - "middle managers will be gone"?? Don't count on it sweetie. Someone rubbed you the wrong way my little precious bumpkins? If he/she was a middle manager, it's more likely that they will have YOUR pathetic job and YOU will be on the street. Then you can thank him/her and CVX.

You will be better off.

"Is there a business case that justifies paying a bunch of Indians wasting money and looking at strontium in produced water bc that's what etc is..."

There is no justification for being racist and prejudiced on the board. It is very unfortunate that we have lots of toxic and just plain nasty comments being posted here.

@GhdmuL7-1ldu's skull needs to be dismantled to see if there is actually any grey matter existing inside. We will call in the SME's and his fate will lie in their hands. If any grey matter is discovered, it will be reassigned to another group where it can be better utilized.

Etc needs to be dismantled. The business model is in conflict with all bu metrics. Research has already been gutted. Redundancies will be reduced and hopefully enough management will be dropped to reorg with another group, ie. Uc.

@1ion About the being dismantled incrementally.. Is that conjecture or based on some plan you heard of. How big is relevent sme's. I guess I'm one of the few in etc that does real work. I've never worked on "research"

Other non-OPCOs involved -like Alpha. 15-25% advertised but like Alpha, true number is closer to 30%. The process continues in 2017 until ETC is reduced to select SMEs with operational or strategic relevance. ETC is being dismantled incrementally. If you like research, time to update the CV and hit the academic circuit hard where you will find a lot of competition. Hope you got to publish something recently, otherwise you will find the competition real tough.

I heard cuts in the 15-25 percent range. Of the remaining 75 percent from alpha

Another way of looking at this situation is that: ask yourself-- which BU is producing oil below the current oil price ? None of the offshore assets are profitable at the current rate...... what are you going to do while keeping on bleeding (I. E. produce oil at a loss).

What does an FE in PRC work on when there are no longer any mega projects?

Fat in non-FE departments? You are going to be in for a surprise. FE reductions will comprise half of the total ETC cuts. I guess the definition of fat varies throughout the company. Prepare because that is the plan.

If you are not on billable hours you will be gone. 20% overhead billable is max.

Meh. There may be some reductions but Chevron is not going to slash their technical competency like they did in the 80s. There is quite a bit of fat in the non-FE departments.
