Hiring Couples

What are you thoughts on the NEPOTISM at COP? Way too many couples are hired and leave managers in a compromised position.. of course they are always going to support each other's groups in a decision! In SJBU there was a couple who ran two entire departments and both reported to the VP. Seemed a little unethical..

drop the "friends" thing???...cannot be done...someone with an mba, a fancy resume and close to zero experience got a job with the help of a "friend" - "big guy" - she cannot survive w/o the big guy...and she will do anything to get the job...and for that "anything" the big guy will always help! was her position advertised...no way...but hey, she got a friend! It is sick what is happening now ...when so many people have lost their jobs...and others, who do not deserve to get a job at all...they have a job...

Not just couples. Try getting hired on if you are not some manager's kid. I lasted less than a year and they turned right around and hired new grads.

How can a husband and a wife have the same boss? That should be a no no regardless of level!!! Pretty sure there is an mso that has the same boss as his wife she is the tech for the team...this should be fixed immediately!!! How can that Asset function with such things slipping through the cracks? No wonder most of the drama in these threads is about the Rockies who is running the ship?

2ies must be talking about the Es in San Juan. VE was pathetic as a production engineer and not much better in her current role.

The problem with couples is that the token spouse gets promotions, higher rankings, and positions they never would have had if they were not married to the PRIZED spouse

@1tno- totally agree. But you act like Ethan is some big catch. He blatantly STEALS other (good) engineers ideas and work and presents it as his own. He treats all of 30th street like it is highschool. If he didn't spend so much time fueling the gossip mill and bragging about his new toys, he miiiiiiiiight have time to create original content. Ohhhhh that's not what COP wants, nevermind.....

Kaylie was retained through the cuts as harder and more intelligent workers in the corrosion department were laid off. She was then transitioned to a production engineer, where additional more qualified employees had been let go. No way she isn't cut if she isn't married to Ethan. I think this is exactly what the OP meant. It's not their "fault" but shows how hiring married couples can get in the way of smart business decisions being made. It's a different story if employees get married after they have been hired - that's not on the company.

Who here has been personally been victimized by John, Lisa, Ethan, or Kaylie?

The funny part of the original post is that he was the one that left and she stayed.....of the 2 he was far more easy to speak to. He was kind and actually would talk to employees even simple good morning , always made eye contact. My own personal opinion is he by far would have made a better leader..... we are currently circling the drain she is cold and demanding noone is happy. The worst part is she doesn't care!

Usually the women are managers first and the company knows then they have to make their husband happy so they make him a token manager. This keeps the couple happy and the company gets to keep the female leader they want to keep. Just business.

Your months late as this is no longer the case......however yes there is a ton of this in that asset. 1 reason is it is the only decent place to work in the area, so as long as the do not report to the same boss or team then it should be fine. It is not the spouse thing I have issues with its the weird I am friends with so and so thing man that is rampant! There are 2 short completely unnecessary people who cause some of most inappropriate issues tome afyer time yet trouble never sticks to them...why? Any other company would have fired them long ago....nope we will just keep changing their title and move them to a new team...REPEATEDLY!!!!! Wake up asset (64 inparticular) you are drowning in classless acts that dont have an actual purpose just friends...
