Stores that meet certain criteria are doing this, so Not all stores are doing this but there is a reason behind it. By eliminating stock in the backroom, there is no more need for wasting time on Pick lists, BRL, Audits, Outdates, Inventory prep and control and all the other things that go on with maintaining the back room. Although the future of SHC might not be looking good, there are a lot of things being put into place to keep the stores running and profiting as long as possible. Some say that its just delaying the inevitable, but even if that's the case they are trying to stay open longer and that means us employees will have a job longer. Most of what they're doing is to give the few employees that are still in the store a chance to help customers more and improve the look of the store instead of spending an entire 8 hour shift in the backroom pulling socks and towels all day.

Not enough people to put the merchandise on the floor and what merchandise we do have has no plot plan or we don't carry the items. Almost ten percent of a recent truck we received had expired items or items with plot plans that we had years ago. Just looks like they are cleaning out the warehouses and sending stores anything and everything to get it out of corporate warehouses. Looks like liquidation

No Kmart receiving or backroom can be "clean[ed] out" - too much bulk pallets, displays, and non-planogram merchandise come in that can't go out I could open my own store in the back and out sell the sales floor. We unload truck after truck - each filled from end to end with boxes falling out just as soon as the trailer door is opened; we can never "get ahead" on freight. If our distribution system operated correctly, the backroom would be (near) empty 24/7. Since we are not a retailer, I accept it for what it is...

sears or kmart? At our kmart it's impossibly full in receiving because we don't have enough people left to move it out to the floor. So it gets worse with each truck because it's so hard to get to what can go out.
