Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

I rather layoffs to forlough

I know I am in minority but I rather see layoffs than a general paycut. I really doubt I get picked to be let go but even if I do, it is better than my current situation which is doing job of 3 people. Just too much stress.

There are a lot of people in my location with nothing to do who dodged the layoffs because they belong to "good ole boys/gals club". But we all take paycuts and they get to come to office and pretend to work all day long while the rest of us have to work our asses off for reduced wage. This is messed up.

too much management, get ride of them !! Good workers do not need some a--hole taking credit for our labor, I've worked independent at weatherford since day 40 and I never ever have had a reason for a manager. I come to work to earn a paycheck and produce they best product possible even if they tell me to take a short cut I don't and out produce my peers and or keep up with the best. But what kills me is when they come by and tell you that your doing it wrong, and they are totally clueless , I have called them out many times by asking them to show me how to do my job better and they chock every time! and when they did participate in my game they NCRd every time. I'm venting yes but they have to wake the f--- up

I just got laid off today. I have a class A and was a hand. I backed up the welders and moved corod trailers around too. They laid me off and kept the safety guy with a dui that needs his own personal driver to go anywhere. Kept another guy that severly injured 3 people and didnt't get fired. And kept another hand that can't even drive a tool truck due to having too many tickets. All because his daddys a pusher. Instead they let go of 4 hands with class As. A supervisor. And a newly transfered guy.

Then volunteer for a layoff but good luck with getting a good severance. They are now paying the minimum.

Sorry to say but you're as good as gone, they keep the loafs and get rid of the good workers, that's the mentalatity and I can tell you are good because yor stressed.

Don't want to sound like an insensitive jerk but if mr X has nothing to do let him go, why is everyone getting a paycut? We have to work hard to make up for the already laid off and get a paycut instead of annual bonus and raise? Is Weatherford a welfare program for the lazy?

I graduated about 10 years ago and got laid off twice already.

I think it would have been better to offer the choice between pay cut or a descent separation package/severance and let people decide. There are a lot of people tired of the toxic environment at WFT and I know a lot who would take the package if the option was presented to them. Most in the office are now looking for other jobs anyway in and out of the industry. The ones who find a job now will leave WFT without looking back. The others will be part of the post-downturn massive exodus when jobs openings are flooding the market.

I would also prefer layoffs to pay cuts. There is a guy in my office and he doesn't seem to have a real job, but he has a chair that cost a grand. Maybe it is time to say yes to another company.
