Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Proactive

They should really shorten work hours right now, they can increase them later but keeping front doors open, receptionists, maintenance people, techs for each team and any contractors at all is seriously crazy right now there is no work! I have nothing at all against these people I am close friends with most of them its just so odd that we would be paying salaries for all these people while things are tough. If there are 2 tech positions have them half the hours or if there is for some unearthly reason that we still have contractors then give the position to a true COP .....We should be Proactive right now!

It is COP leadership's job to diligently and systematically ELIMINATE work that does not create value for shareholders. Instead they GENERATE non-value added "work", like iteration after iteration of models, plans, and budgets, and build their empires. The organization has grown way beyond independent benchmark levels. Massive layoffs were needed long ago, and should have started with getting rid of employees doing all that non-value added work.

There may be sites where there's not much to do. I can see where that would be true in Land and out where drilling is nonexistent, but the Finance group is always busy cleaning up years of information that was provided to them incorrectly or processing or cleaning up unit reworks as mandated by the BLM. The tax department is constantly busy not only working on taxes, but working on budgets OVER and OVER and OVER. This is not even mentioning the creative ways COP is trying to classify assets to maximize depreciation and depletion. I am sure it is a constant madhouse around Lance's office to create new and better Cool aide to share with the minions. That's right. . . minions, because they have long forgotten that the employees who are still with COP are real people.

GrDKU6e, good suggestion but management will not consider it! They are too ingrained with the mindset of an intergrated oil company vs an independent oil company. They have no clue how to operate as a real independent! If management did know how to operate as an independent, more cuts would have already been made! Lance and COP will be on the hot seat by the analysist early April!
