Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Big cuts to all of Canada

Furloughs are doubled, for a total for 20% now. Also RRSPs are no longer being matched.

Anything under 30hrs/week is considered part time in canada.

One day of furlough per pay period for most of 2015 (22 days). This has now been increased to two days per pay period and no overtime. 32 hour week or four day week until July when you either use it or lose it. Also the matching 5% rasp is gone. Easy math at 25 percent vs Bernice's magnanimous ten percent of base pay. GE has blue coveralls. I look good in blue.

Something you may want to look into, but I believe that anything under 36 hours a week in Canada is considered a part time job, which means that they can just drop most of your full time benefits with no real notice. With the way that they have been going, I wouldn't put it past them to look to it as a short term savings to take advantage of.

Hey Canucks thanks for confirming! I don't hold out much hope of staying with WFT beyond Q3.

Best of luck to each of you!

I work in completions in Edmonton and can confirm that we are working 32hr a week until the end of July (if not longer) we have barley any jobs and most of the work is pushing broom and repairing leaking packers... HR has a boardroom booked for the 29th so we will probably see layoffs right away.

We had furloughs in Canada start last fall, One unpaid day off per pay period. Good in theory, but if you were busy and had to work it is essentially a pay cut.

Last week we got the announcement that the furloughs were being increased to two days per pay period, I don't have much confidence that this will be lifted at the end of Q2.

I didn't see anything about Canada furloughs, just an American here. And it was just announced last week everyone has to take 16 hours or 2 days a month furloughed.

Can a Canuck verify that y'all up there have to take 32 unpaid hours or 4 days off per month?

I want to know what I have to look forward to coming up in the 3rd quarter (July/Aug/Sep) and 4th quarter (Oct/Nov/Dec) when the furlough will allegedly be over.

Of course it's only for support staff. I have never seen a company that treats women like dirt more than weatherford. Meanwhile all the dinks keep their hours.

Furloughs for support staff only and only for Q2 due to spring breakup, likely will be in Q3 if oil stays at 40. RRSPs likely until the end of the year, but will come back quickly as WFT needs a carrot to give back to the employees once things look better in North America.

I'm surprised that the US only went to 10% furlough. They should have been at 10% last year and moving up to 20% this year as well.

I'm still happier with furloughs than layoffs.

So is everyone still pro-furlough and anti-layoff?
