20 years with IBM, always bled blue. Last week, out of (sic) blue - an all-hands meeting - 300 of us "sold" to an Indian company. Cannot look for other positions in IBM, cannot be rehired for 24 months (by IBM). So, 20 years of tenure, just wasted down the drain... Welcome to the 21st century capitalism.

I left IBM last year... retired. I am SO glad to be done with that circus. I feel for those who are left. They are simply the next fodder for the next RA cannon.
The ride is over and you have crashed on the beach and got hamburgered. Get up, lick your wounds and paddle out again. Another set is coming.
Tenure has no value, the job market is volatile, and there is no loyalty between employers and employees - this has been the case since early 1990s. You've made your choice to ride the wave and the show is over, you need to move on.
What was the value of your 20 years of tenure?
To original poster -- what part of IBM are you in?
Good luck with an Indian owner, typically all cos coming from that region pay zero f---s about employees
Think in terms of 'it cannot be worse than IBM' - it's very likely that whatever that other company does will be better than what IBM does. Also, they will likely treat you better. What's your alternative? Stay with IBM and be RA'd at 30 days severance? It's all about perspective bro.
