Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

COP "Management"

For the past 5+ years, COP management as a whole has underperformed. Unlike COP employees, the management has metrics that compare themselves as a whole to their counterparts in other companies. By almost every measure, COP management has underperformed. With a few exceptions (Jeff Sheets) most managers have maintained their positions. Given the mass layoffs the employees have suffered, this is wrong on so many different levels. Furthermore, given management's bad track record for the past 5+ years, what hope do they have for the next 5+ years? Given that the company can not manage itself well, shouldn't it just give up and put itself up for sale, or spin off key business units into new companies?

In UK they all patted themselves on the back for getting us into this mess then fired all the workers. End of a BU?

The management here in Commercial is a mob. They cling together in their stupidity.

Great write up. Spot on! Go check out the power team in Houston. Bunch of circus clowns. Seriously led by a complete KING DING DONG. The lady sold a 500 million dollar unit for MINUS 5000000. Yeah she convinced management to pay an entity to take the unit off our hands and after dumping our only asset convinced management we still needed a f---ing power team. We do nothing over here except play pencil pocket all day. Our group needs to be randomly drug tested, seriously. Management has put together a bunch of "bad news bears". Manager goes on trips and pretends to be a Twin Eagle or Entergy. Go check out what that unit prints today. SRW Cogen. Go do the math. All the managers above her are the real problem. I have to give line manager credit. She has mastered the art of a busy body which is what all her mommas and dadas or dumb asses above her like to see. If she is the prototype of the leader management wants to see it's no wonder why the company is tits up. Heading over to Cornells to try out his new 2 foot bong. Peace.

This is very sad because it's true. Management and supervisors need to be thoroughly evaluated. I can count on one hand the ones that I know to be true leaders.

The depressing part is, nothing will change this.

Correction, at least 3 of our failed executives did not just "maintain", rather they got promotions or at least big raises in the past year!
