Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Excellent town hall meeting today - What did you think?

Was that smoke coming out of Ray G's ears? He seemed awfully upset answering the question about cutting the employee bonus while the family dividend is untouched.

LOL. How about when Erin VP from HR said we didn't know how employees felt until we initiated this survey. sh--, just look at what you have done to Follett employees for the past three years. Sounds like leadership that is out of touch.

I remember Audrey passing out Popsicles - those were happy employees. Not this crap of fake thank you's.

We absolutely do have a morale problem. We're constantly badgered to submit success stories. One cannot force recognition as a means of raising morale. Only way that's going to happen is with success. Actual, not 'oh hey this person brought me coffee today, have a Follett value ecard!' Not saying it's an easy process, but those responsible for morale boosts aren't paid in peanuts now, are they?

Nader said his goal is to work to have the happiest employees, not that we currently do. He has repeatedly said we have a morale problem. He's trying. I imagine many of the layoffs were planned before he took on his role.

Nader sounds great. He is the one that told our customers that Follett has the happiest employees in the industry. And then announced more cuts.

My only comment on this is that "we" have all had no clue on the direction and strategy of this company for 3yrs. We voiced this loud and clear in the "voice" survey and all we get is a put off that more will be shared later. When is later?

NADER, HONEST???? Surely you jest. He is a wolf in SHEEPd clothing. And George is a dog. He left Follett, came back and now is an a--hole to all those around him.

Nader, you, probably will be let go in a year. I will be waiting in line to laugh in your face, just as you have done to others.

Acquisition has been at the center of Follett's success plan for years. They acquire leases, heap costs on the roll out project and move on. As fewer schools choose follett, and more kick the disgraced outsource company off of their campuses, follett is buying competing companies (2 large acquisitions in the past year alone). Who wants to be they've heaped costs onto the acquisition and roll out projects. Can't teach a dead dog new tricks

My take. I want to work under Nader or George, they seemed the most honest.

Given the Teflon Don's recent 'blog' post I suspect there are more cuts in store (not substantiated, but a guess) given his mention of not caring about store numbers and possibly exiting unprofitable contracts. Obviously a business looks after itself as it should, but what is his theshold, I wonder? Choppy choppy!

He said that Ace Hardware would have been a better investment for the family.

For those of us not fortunate enough to witness the town hall, what was his response other than smoke?

What about when he said it will take more than a year to get back where Follett was, does that mean no raises or bonuses again next year?

RG, upset? Impossible. Such a herculean task as his of resuscitating a failing company requires calm, Follett values. Order more short-sleeve tees!
