Take the package. Try finding a better opportunity for the next two months. If satisfied take it, if not then get back in Intel. I believe they will start needing people in other teams very soon due to lack of man power and increased projects. That way you might just a great offer elsewhere plus hold on to your separation package. Worst case, think you went on a two month unpaid vacation and got a new job in Intel. A good way to get a pay bump too. So, your unpaid vacation might actually be a paid one at the end of everything. If you have a ERP for site take it..relax for a year with your 1 year pay and after a year if you feel like working go back to Intel. I certainly believe ERP is a clear cut choice of taking it..no losses at all. Think of it as a one year paid vacation. In a hear many things change, you might want to do something different, actually just retire and spend time with family. vsp's are a great option too, plenty of jobs around, take the time and look around, remember you can always go back to Intel, this time though they will ask you to join . long weekend coming up think about it. My brother took his VSP and was paid almost 10 months, he has been offered a position in another company and joing date he requested to be as Aug 1st. He has been vacationing at the expense of the package he received from Intel and will come back refresehd for his new career. Wish you all good luck who are in a similar position.

I went through involuntary ERP and I did not feel respected by the "walk you out the door" approach which suggested that after all these years (and as an Intel stockholder) I could not be trusted. I felt the work I was doing was important to the people I was working with (if not others) and having a few days to transition projects would have been win-win but I was unable to influence the decision. Being forced to leave such a relationship was likely very good for me physically and mentally. Don't be afraid - look forward, not back. Best of luck to you all.
Advise: Let Intel KICK your package and then hand you another package to replace your damaged package.

You had 6-7 weeks to decide And find a job while employed. If you have not found a job or failed all your interviews then stay at Intel and understand why yoU failed the interviews. if you are 50+ it is harder to find a job

Those days are over with especially if you are a white male over 50 yo.
Reply to one of the posts below, Unless you step outside from your fairytale job at Intel , you will not know about the opportunities outside. You people have got so laid back and complesant that you don't know what's outside of Intel. Believe me there is life a better life outside. At the end it's your call, but people with your mind set who think Inteln is everything and no doors are open are people who will regret it one day.

Don't take ERP, wait for VSP or ISP.
Very good post and advice.. I'm taking the ERP and will not look back. It's been a great career and I have no regrets. It is a totally different company culture versus 30 years.
I agree. Good advice to folks who are still uncertain.
