Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

What do you not miss?

I'll start...PMPs, workpace breaks, my old boss & his boss, people telling you to hold the escalator rail, the messed up elevators, security guards as receptionists!

I answer to the person asking saying the benefits are great... and what has been lost... I agree that the benefits are good... but they were so much better. The benefits removed are... physicals for all employees by company doctors (saved a friends life); They renamed the Chevron Employee Pride without telling us; medical and dental have grown less "rich" through the years; increased points required for retirement medical; decreased the contribution to pension; salary structure not equitable; changed the bonus formulas to made it less equitable; retirement parties and other functions and travel for the small are far and few.... etc. etc.

I so miss ITC and ETC contract prep work as well. Procurement was such a joke at chevron. They thought they were the smartest ones at chevron. Poorly run and the rules changed by the hour. Work pace breaks. General managers who had no idea between what is strategy and tactical planning.

I'm totally out of CVX myself, aopb. Watch in enjoyment during the upcoming RIFs and ROMs. Too bad we can't watch the Chevron in-fighting through closed-circuit TV on our iPads. That would be better that the programming Comcast has.

Also- I'm in full agreement. I am fully divested of CVX stock and will watch the rats eat each other during the next RIFs or ROMs as the Chevroids call lay offs.

I don't miss favorite employees of managers coming in at 8:30 -9:00 every morning, taking an hour lunch break, leaving at 3:30 to go home, walking around the halls a couple of times every day to spy and tattle tale on others, taking 1-2 days off every pay cycle. I don't miss managers joking and laughing about people who have been laid off and commenting on all the available offices for new hires and transfers. I don't miss the chevroids or the petty high school click politics and lack of professionalism.

I miss the red beans and rice in the gulf cafe, then leaving aromatic surprizes in the elevators and the common bridge areas

@HApM4Y5-9kiv, Yes, at least that is a step up from here at the Houston office, where the sexism is PERFORMED by HR and VP, among many many others!! I guess we've just got thicker skin over here in Texas. I don't get offended by high-school antics. Boys will be boys and many of the girls play right into it with their girl-toys like their little puppets . Don't pick it apart.

@aqmt, I totally agree with you. If you can't speak up then "write up". Take a large indelible ink marker into the bathroom stalls all over the building and spell out your outrage for all, including the spineless management, to read. Make it count!

If you speak up about displaying LGBT rainbow flag, but not displaying American flag for 4th of July Independence celebration, then you will be considered as not being sensitive to other nationalities and not exhibiting Chevron Way PC behavior. You may become a target for future layoffs.

Failing to display the American flag SHOULD OFFEND more than a few of us. It should offend ALL OF US. We should remind the company management of that fact. Come July 4th, if you are still outraged, let them know it.

I don't miss the big rainbow LGBT banner that is displayed for gay pride festivities in Houston and failing to display a big USA flag for 4th of July celebration. I guess that would offend some people. Makes me sick.

In COV the gawking and sexism is with full support of HR and the VP unfortunately, who choose to punish those who say something, not the offenders.

Excellent post, 9pcc. I'm still laughing after reading that. So true about Watson. Why doesn't he write us to say he's giving up his stock options for one year as his contribution to saving money? Just joking, as that won't happen. He'd rather continue the layoffs, sacrificing you and me and our families. I have no confidence or respect for these weasels.

I sure wish some of the cute guys would gawk and comment at me, I go to the gym 3 times a week and I think I look pretty darn good for a 50-something. The young ones have all the fun. Then they need ME to help them do their work. Go figure!

@-9zud - LOL - And I assumed that was only here at the Houston office with the characters we have over here that's commonplace and business as usual!!! No one even makes note of it, it's so prevalent here in Texas. At least I am not the only one getting offended. I guess over there in Louisiana you are more used to people having better Southern Hospitality, at least I am and it sticks out more. thanks for posting!

I won't miss reading Watson's letters about some secretary in Midland saving the company a couple of grand by reducing the number of potted plants in the office while he pulls in an $60MM bonus.

Are you guys all laid off, or are you one of those types that you mentioned - you know, not smart but brown-noser, brother-n-law, etc?

by

Post ID: @6hjz+HApM4Y5

@6tev - or a brown noser, a$$ kisser or slick willy. You forgot to add those kinds of people. They are the other half of the population at Chevron.

Chevron was on a hiring binge when oil was at $120 per boe. By mid 2014, they started the cuts and the ROMS keep coming. You don't have to be smart to work at Chevron. Just be a brother-in-law, daughter or son of an old timer.

The constant mentioning of company vision and mission statement.

The over glorified tenents of operations, like 10 commandments to the religious fantatics Or like the communist Red Army reciting Mao's red book. All employees were to memorized them.

Now the americans call the Truth as alternative news sources. Hahaha. Lost the grounds completely. The reality is that americans never landed on the moon, now they even don't have anything to deliver astronauts to the space station, only Russians have these technologies today. US space program failed, the prove of the failed "Project USA"

I miss the Chevron of the 80's. When we had great benefits and felt valued. I do not miss noticing after the fact that benefits had been removed.

What I don't miss is having to put up with everything that has been posted here and having to keep it to myself for fear of having an anonymous complaint filed against me for offending someone. Welcome to the Chevron Way upside down Alice in Wonderland/ North Korea world of corporate behavior. God help us all if this bullshit exists everywhere.

Making up BBS's and near misses.

Going to a downhill and not really understanding what was said until I figured out what wasn't being said was the really important news.

I don't miss being told up is down, left is right, good is bad or was it down is up, right is left, and bad is good. It was just so hard to keep all that Chevron logic straight.
