Severance can be reasonable however the management stinks, especially mid management who are just puppets with no power, influence or soul!

The situation here is extremely political for a front line s/w dev manager; As someone said, she/he would not have any say and it is all decided by the SVPs or Senior Directors in USA
In North America it is 1 month of notice. Find another job by the end of June or you're gone. There are few jobs internally and even if you are lucky to get one, it could be a target for the next layoff. You need to really be looking externally. MH will cut until he is the last one left. He got fired from HP before he realized his dream.
You get 1 week for every year of service.
Its not two weeks for every year. May depend on organization/geography.
Generally the package is two weeks for every year - not sure what the upper limit is to be honest - plus unused credited vacation up to the max.
