Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

This just got announced today. All contractors in MST are fired in month on June.

So much for Cristiano's "we're back" lol

Tons of work on the horizon with same or lower pay.

jun 24 contract expires to most of the contractors in Qualcomm. I think it will help Q to save $ and make fultimers to start working.

Vikas and Ranjan are directors. The only people losing their jobs in June are CWF workers. Detra asked for funds for 400 CWFs he got approval for 20. So 380 are history come June 24th.

Did Ranjan Mohanty and Vikas Gupta still keep their jobs? They don't know anything technical.

Whoever has the time to train some email office commando to do testing is also non critical and should be fired.

The biggest problem is that in our group we have eliminated the fun stuff contractors used to do, because we are trying to cut them out from being critical to the operation, and they know what's going on with that. They used to be team members working on getting rolled over, now they are less than that, and they know it.

MST is an over inflated balloon. Too many email samurai's reporting status and asking others for status. Give them an option to sit at a bench and test hardware. If they are not willing to do that ... fire them. We don't need contractors. They are paid a lot more than full time employees just for the flexibility of using them on a temp basis. Full time employees anyways don't have much benefits so it won't hurt to recruit new college grads ...

Contractors are hardworking, too many directors and Principal Engineers in MST, APT doing nothing there.

Awesome. Now it will be even harder to find decent contractors. Word gets around. We already have a hard time getting good folks.

Same with APT. Anyone who didn't get extended past June 30th is done.

How can the FTE's pick up the slack? Not possible for that size hole to be filled. It seems unlikely unless the workload is going to be significantly reduced or MST is going to be offshored.

Unfortunate cost cutting. Unfortunate not for the contractors but for the employees who have to pick up the slack . :(

This is on going Qualcomm cost cutting plan, due to declining revenues.
