Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What's happening in Austria and France?

Still no idea what will happen with those sites. Any news?

Actually there are 7 sites in France

Ultimate plan is to close all seven sites in France, mainly SSG and save Intel focus on upcoming IOTG, Cloud, Data Center like groups.

I heard layoffs in between 0 and 100% and possible sites closures in between 0 and 8

I heard layoff of around 10 to 15% at Austria site and the possible closure of the site in France that is working on firmware/modem

Nothing "to be negotiated" now

It is something existing for several years

That's true. Lawyering hordes might let you stay if they can figure out some tax deal with your government.

Let me guess: let another cliche ???

The labor cost is much higher in US

Also in France for a lot of R&D people, 30% of the salary and R&D expenses are paid back to Intel as taxes reductions.

I have no idea but let me guess. The labor cost is extremely high in these places as compared to say China, Vietnam or Penang. Assume Intel wants to close these sites. However these countries also have labor laws that make this more difficult. I'd say there are a horde of lawyers trying to figure out how to properly axe you even as we type....
