No ! Page is not up to date. Montpellier has been closed
Actually there are 7 sites in France

There are not seven sites in France.
Ultimate plan is to close all seven sites in France, mainly SSG and save Intel focus on upcoming IOTG, Cloud, Data Center like groups.
I heard layoffs in between 0 and 100% and possible sites closures in between 0 and 8

The labor cost is much higher in US

Also in France for a lot of R&D people, 30% of the salary and R&D expenses are paid back to Intel as taxes reductions.
I have no idea but let me guess. The labor cost is extremely high in these places as compared to say China, Vietnam or Penang. Assume Intel wants to close these sites. However these countries also have labor laws that make this more difficult. I'd say there are a horde of lawyers trying to figure out how to properly axe you even as we type....
