More troubles ahead, things are going in wrong direction
One of Rochester's biggest employers announced more layoffs on Wednesday.
A spokesperson for Xerox tells us the Webster Supplies Distribution Center on Philips Road is closing and 48 employees will be laid off -- that includes six people on salary. Their last day will be August 29th.
In January, Senator Chuck Schumer told us that Xerox CEO Ursula Burns reassured him the company remains committed to Rochester. He says he understands these layoffs are part of the ebbs and flows of business and not the splitting of Xerox into two companies.
A spokesman for Schumer told News10NBC, ""We are very disappointed and displeased and we will be conveying that message directly to Xerox."
