With sofia cancelled and Asus walking away. What's the point of spending billions of dollars on mobile when wewe don't have any products to engage with the woofer market. I'm sure Apple are happy for Intel to take all the costs and risk whilst offering contra revenue. But really where is this going?

With Apple we bend over and take what ever they will give us!
What would happen when Apple converts MACs to ARM and design it internally.
The modem business is a bone thrown to Intel as we gave it away at a price Qualcomm simply said bad business. We are so desperate to win, we'll wrap money around it, as we did other ones ;-)
We should ignore Apple. That would be so clever of course
@4pry that's funny
While Intel may be losing money on each unit, they plan to make it up on volume.

Tablets billions spent and a failure
Phones billions spent and a failure
Modems billions spent and will be a failure
LOL
Best case scenario is Apple uses Intel's fab and integrates the modem with the Apple SOC.
Reality is Intel will burn tons of cash and achieve minority share with little to no profit. They'll be the AMD of modems.
Why Aicha not leaving Intel now? There were rumors about that.
Intel may get portion of iPhone modem chip this year, next year how possible will that happen again?
