Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Funny someone brought up DEC. Had a great gravy train going and a fab too doing a proprietary architecture and hardware and chips and everything else. All them servers and minicomputers thought look at that piss poor x86 instruction set and crap performance, then the hordes of hundreds of millions like locust ate the servers and minicomputers and the mainframes.

Then the stupid leaderships thought x86 was so good just like the prior companies they ate. Look at ARM such a silly architecture and inferior performance. Then ARM with the power of BILLIONS ate Intel, LOL

The ARM locust of swept thru x86 country and left a complete desert, and their is going to be famine in the x86 land. The combination of falling pc sales ( double digit ), server moving to cloud, and ARM.. and the late silicon technology is a storm of locust even a brilliant leader would struggle with but one from San Jose State and little real intelligence as the captain the whole company is sunk!

Very common problem DEC Ken Olson should have licensed VMS operating System. BUT HE NEVER BELIEVED IN PCs. WE WOULD NOT BE RUNNING DO WINDOWS. AT THE WINDOW NT WAS WRITTEN BY A VMS DEC TEAM.

MARKET WANTS MULTIPLE VENDORS.

The same is true of other acquisitions and investments.

If you have 96+% share of data center servers, it would make sense to establish a wide ecosystem of partners who proactively take advantage of the capabilities in Intel chips to demonstrate new product features and accelerate the growth of the total available market in key, growth areas.

By acquiring or becoming a major investor in firms, Intel pits itself against part of the ecosystem that could and should be using Intel chips. In essence, these acquisitions and investments create new reasons to oppose Intel vs. reasons to collaborate a grow.

Should one flavor of Hadoop vs, another matter to Intel (as long as customers are implementing new Big Data infrastructures)? The massive Cloudera investment is the only reason it does. AI platform or BI tools running in a data center? The Saffron acquisition and Lumiata investments, among others, skew the focus and create new adversaries. Same with all of the random wearable and IoT acquisitions.

And the second that a company is acquired by Intel, it must spend way too much time and energy just being part of Intel and dealing with a bunch of people with a million demands that have nothing to do with that company being successful, Does anyone think that BASIS is all of a sudden going to become a Fitbit killer with its acquisition by Intel? If anything, it's fallen further behind. Such is the case with so much of this.

This is also an indicator as to how dumb their leadership is.

Ignorant and arrogant. They do not care, since they still think they have monopoly.
