Hi everyone. I am thinking to make a change. I am thinking to join Apple. I am HW Engineer. My interview went very well. Working for Apple sounds very exciting. Will be challenging of course. I don't think staying at Intel is a better deal at the moment given all this chaos going on. Quallcomm has invited me to onsite interview as well. But i really want to join Apple. I would appreciate it if you can give me some advice. Thanks

Hopefully as part of your interview you asked lots of questions to understand the cultural, the expectation the growth opportunity.
Apple like Intel is a one trick pony. Apple has a lot of haters and a lot of people who just love their product. That I think is the difference, you don't see to many people "loving" their WINTEL PC. You don't find Amazon, Apple MS, FB, or other big buyer loving the product, LOL.
Been at Intel and working for Apple now.
From my relatively short experience, Apple works much faster, teamwork is much more important in its culture, therefore, there is no silo mentality.
Secrecy means you will not see the whole picture, but it's not too bad.
I know Intel is not the worst Company out there, but it has sure been the worst company I've ever worked for. Apple is way better.
Agree with the suggestion to read Glassdoor and then decide. I know people at Apple who love being there and people who think it is a sweatshop. For me personally (and I am not at Apple) I would take the "love being there" plus "sweatshop" over a toxic working environment.

I would read the glassdoor feedback. I think it's pretty positive. I've heard Apple is more about "belonging" and being part of the team, vs. Intel which has always been pretty adversarial and in increasingly turning to a fear-based culture.

In agreement with you -xhg. OP is a lamer and troll.
It's not as if rusted long resident employees of Intel can get a job anywhere else. So Intel is the only option and remains best option for them. That being the reason so many are getting kicked out.
Why else would Intel get rid of 50+ oldies via ERP .. and at same time hire so many 50+ URM oldies, mostly grannies ?
No better company to work at than Intel..

What do you expect Intel people to know about working at Apple and tell you ? Most Intel people have not worked outside Intel. They are like frogs in a well. Their work experience world and knowledge of other workplaces is limited.
Apple is at an inflection point right now, better than Intel but risky. Zero work life balance, if you are a grunt, I say forget it. Director level or up, go for it as all that crazy hours work will pay off

Will never ever work for another public held corporation again. Worked for 2 in my career and it's like a re-run of a bad movie in the end.
Another company that has a 1 hit wonder. Intel has servers, Apple has I-Phone ... keep milking that cow, and once the cow is starting to dry - like it is for Intel, you'll need to worry. I think I-Phone is done also.. oh.. next I-Phone model.. model 20s - 0.0002mm thinner, now with 60 speakers and 20 mics, and 2000000000 pixels allowing you to see 500000 shades or red... please pay $800 to upgrade. See the point... thanks.
A friend of mine left Apple bc of the large amount of travel and worklife balance issues even when he was home. He the went to Lab 126 (Amazon) and left there for a start-up. I can understand the news for security but weigh it against the real cost.
Apple is blood sucker and lot of china people. Also you don't have empowerment and feel lonely in team . Each team is working in isolation due to secretive projects they run. You are not allowed to share information.
So take these point into consideration .. I left because i felt all these

Apple will suck your blood out for little more money. I would not advice. Lot of employees leaving Apple.
OP here: Apple requires a lot of travel. Not sure how it will impact my work/life balance. But for sure it gives me a sense of stability in the company i am working at and it may mean whole lot to me to have a piece of mind. Right now at Intel i don't have that piece of mind and it sounds like it will only get worse.
Do what's best for you. If Apple is better based on your assessment, then go for it.
